Respondus Monitor Faculty Information
NOTE: If Respondus Monitor is used for a class, Baylor's office of the General Counsel requires that:
The course syllabus for each course making use of Respondus Monitor must provide the following notice:
"This course may require the use of Respondus LockDown Browser and a webcam for online exams. A description of the services and the terms of use will be presented to students within LockDown Browser upon launch of the software. Students agree that they may be recorded by the software during the exam session, and that the course instructors or other appropriate individuals at Baylor University may have access to and may review such recording. Students further understand that if the results of a review support an allegation of academic dishonesty, the course work in question as well as any supporting materials may be submitted to the Honor Council for investigation and further action. If an inappropriate event unrelated to the test is accidentally recorded, students may request that the video be deleted by contacting the ITS Help Desk."
- If use of Respondus Monitor is instituted after the distribution of the syllabus, then an equivalent written notice must be provided by the instructor to the students.
- All videos recorded by Respondus Monitor and LockDown Browser are confidential and considered educational records under FERPA.
- If an inappropriate event unrelated to a test is accidentally recorded, students may request that the video be deleted by contacting the Baylor ITS Help Desk at (254) 710-4357. Baylor ITS Security will review the student's request and may under extremely limited circumstances contact the vendor to request that the video be removed from the Internet.
- Instructors must review the training information and Getting Started video and/or access the resources found on the Respondus website before using Respondus Monitor.
