BU-GUEST: Wireless Access for Campus Visitors

In order to preserve the security and integrity of Baylor's campus wireless network, the university hosts a sponsored guest wireless network. Baylor faculty and staff can authorize campus guests to access BU-GUEST.

Instructions for Guests

If you are visiting Baylor and would like to use the BU-GUEST wireless network, you must either have access credentials provided to you by a member of Baylor's faculty/staff or a Baylor faculty/staff sponsor's Baylor email address. Follow these instructions to move through the BU-GUEST registration process. For instructions that can be printed, please click here.

Instructions for Baylor Faculty/Staff

All Baylor faculty/staff have the ability to authorize access to the BU-GUEST wireless network. Follow these instructions to authorize BU-GUEST access requests made by your guests. If you receive a BU-GUEST sponsorship request that you did not anticipate, please ignore the notification. Instructions for authorizing a guest's access to BU-GUEST can be found here. For instructions that can be printed, please click here.

Instructions for Authorized Event Managers

Members of the Baylor community who routinely work with campus events are authorized to pre-register guests and provide them with BU-GUEST access credentials. Instructions for pre-registering guests for BU-GUEST wireless network access can be found here. For instructions that can be printed, please click here.

If you do not know who to contact in your area to pre-register guests, please send an email to helpdesk@baylor.edu with the following information:

  • Name of your group/event
  • How many accounts you need
  • The dates of your event
  • Contact person (Baylor employee) for the event

Some Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do my guests get access to BU-GUEST?

To gain access to BU-GUEST, follow these instructions.

2. Is there a way to pre-register guests?

Yes. Pre-registration may be preferred for large groups or if you know the names of your guests. To pre-register your guests, follow these instructions.

3. Can a guest use the same account for all of their devices, i.e. laptop, smartphone, tablet, etc.?

If you register as a guest using these instructions, you may use the same password for up to three devices. If your guests are pre-registered, accounts are good for one device, so if a user has multiple devices, they will need multiple accounts.

4. What if my guest needs to log into a Baylor computer?

Access to Baylor online services (i.e., Internet, printing services, lab computers) are granted via a Temporary BearID. A temporary BearID requires a departmental sponsor, longer lead time, and presentation of user identification. For more information, please see: https://its.web.baylor.edu/bearid

5. How far in advance do I need to request guest accounts?

If you are hosting an event where your guests only need access to the internet, and will be using the guest registration option with an approving faculty or staff member, no lead time is needed. If you are using the pre-registration option, please allow a week for the accounts to be generated. If a temporary BearID is required (to log onto Baylor computers, etc.), please allow two weeks for the account to be generated.

6. What if I need more guest accounts after my event has started?

If you run out of guest accounts, contact the Help Desk at 254-710-4357 and a consultant will generate more accounts for your guests.
