Availability
Poppulo is available to all Baylor faculty and staff who either manage or deploy digital signage in their area of the university.
Baylor ITS assists departments with the selection, purchase, installation, and support for the hardware configuration and software application in the administrative areas of campus. For digital signage used for classroom or learning spaces, please visit Classroom Technology Services for more information.
When you decide to add a digital display to your department or upgrade an existing display, please submit the Digital Signage Request Form and someone from Baylor ITS will contact you. There are three components to be considered with digital signage: Display, Player, and Content.
- Displays
Digital signage displays need to be commercial-grade displays that are designed to run 24x7. Campus standard displays should be purchased from Baylor Technology Procurement after consultation with Baylor ITS. - Players
As part of the consultation, we will work with your department to order a Dell MicroTower computer that will serve as your digital sign player. Baylor ITS uses a standard software image that will be placed on this computer the operate the sign in the FourWinds Interactive framework. - Content
FourWinds Interactive provides a flexible, mixed-media display environment. The platform can display PowerPoint files, standard graphics, movies, web pages, RSS feeds, in addition to custom content generated from FourWinds.
Support (A)
Support for digital signage is provided by Baylor ITS by contacting HelpDesk+. There is also a Digital Signage Support Group that facilitates questions and discussions among digital signage administrators. Training will be provided when your digital sign is installed. These Guidelines offer basic information for you to start using your digital display.
Baylor ITS will provide a base template for your new digital sign. Further creative design to create content or refresh the signage must be provided by the department. If you would like to submit content for use by other departments, please read the Submit your content for approval. Sign Administrators have access to an "Approved" folder in Box and can decide to display content provided by other campus departments.
